Kiersten Baker

Adult Group Piano Instructor

Ms. Kiersten Baker holds a MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston and a BM in Piano Pedagogy from Louisiana State University where she studied both piano and violin. Kiersten has been teaching piano and Suzuki violin since 2011 and is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Her master’s project, which she also presented at the Texas MTA Convention in 2019, combines her love for violin, piano, making music with friends, arranging, and lead sheets. She hopes to publish this project soon and use it in her own studio so families and friends can readily make music together! She has also taught music theory and aural skills as a part of her graduate assistantship at UH. Kiersten enjoys teaching music in a variety of settings—group and individual lessons; piano, Suzuki violin, and theory; and with people of all ages and stages of life. In whichever context, she is most passionate about making music accessible, relevant, and enjoyable to each student. After lessons, you can find Kiersten in the outdoors, with friends, or concocting clever puns about music or the Bible.
